The Moreton Bay Foundation is a charitable organisation dedicated to protecting and enhancing Queensland’s Moreton Bay, its catchments, coastal areas and tributary rivers. Established in 2018, the Foundation works to ensure the Bay is recognised for its environmental health, biodiversity, Indigenous culture and heritage, and role in supporting a resilient regional economy. Moreton Bay is one of Australia’s most significant coastal ecosystems, supporting recreation, tourism, fisheries, aquaculture and important wildlife habitats. The Foundation focuses on key challenges including sediment run-off, pollution, climate change, recreational boating impacts and habitat degradation. Through research, education, advocacy and collaboration with universities, community groups, industry and government, it helps drive evidence-based action for the Moreton Bay’s future. Their current and recent projects include shorebird surveys, sediment impact research, recreational boating studies and the “Blueprint for a Sustainable Moreton Bay 2035”.
